Roscongress Foundation and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry agree to cooperate

On May 23, 2017, as part of the official visit to Russia by President of the Republic of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte, the Roscongress Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines signed an agreement on co-operation. The signatories of the document were Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev and President of the Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry George T. Barcelon.

The main focus of this agreement is to encourage cooperation on enabling effective communication between expert communities, business leaders, and politicians in the Russian Federation and the Republic of the Philippines.

Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev said that an agreement had been reached to create joint international communication platforms, to seek out and develop new long-term business partnerships between the two countries, and to maintain a dialogue on cooperation in investment and finance, exports and imports, and tourism and culture.

President of the PCCI George T. Barcelon remarked that after almost 70 years in which Russia and the Philippines exchanged very little information, the lack of knowledge about trade and investment potential and important economic events capable of stimulating business ties between the two countries had become a major obstacle to business growth. The parties hope to overcome this obstacle by developing cooperation and establishing effective communication.
