The EAEU digital agenda to be discussed at the SPIEF for the first time

Digital integration initiatives and projects will be in the spotlight

A panel session and a round table dedicated to digital agenda as a factor of increasing competitiveness of the Eurasian Economic Union will take place under the auspices of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018. The main goal of the event is to support the initiatives on economy digitalization and extend integration processes among the EAEU countries.

Representatives of the countries and international organizations of the EAEU partner network participating in the event will discuss the implementation of digital initiatives and projects of the Union and their compliance with global trends, as well as further possibilities for international cooperation.

“For the first time within the space of the Union, the event will launch a comprehensive discussion on the international aspect of digital agenda implementation. It will also help create awareness of cooperation possibilities in the field of the economy digital transformation among general public and the EAEU international partners”, noted Tigran Sarkisyan, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“The EAEU countries have to face the immediate challenges of modern times, one of which is the digital transformation of the economy, industry, and management resulting from the wide spread of digital technologies. This significant discussion at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum will be an important step towards successful implementation of the EAEU digital agenda. Digital integration initiatives and projects increase the transparency of business processes, help remove artificial barriers between countries and form a new space of trust, which is a powerful stimulus for global economic growth”, remarks Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.

The implementation of digital agenda was declared a priority in further development of other activities of the Union during the year of 2018 under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation.

The main spheres of the EAEU digital agenda implementation until 2025 have been approved by the EAEU countries on 11 October 2017. The list of priorities included digital traceability of products, goods, services, and digital assets; digital industrial cooperation; digital transport corridors; data exchange agreement; digital trade and a system of regulatory sandboxes.
