Russian Federation to ramp up strategic partnership with China

At a session of the Russian–Chinese Commission on Preparing Regular Meetings between Heads of Government, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Rogozin noted that Russia will continue to build up its strategic partnership with China and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

“We are eager to take our relationship to the next level. Strengthening multidimensional cooperation is a priority of our foreign policy. We are very clear that we want to develop an all-encompassing strategic partnership, bearing in mind the mutual interests of the people of both countries”, he said. “This is a stable, durable approach.”

Dmitry Rogozin also noted that the countries support one another on key questions of sovereignty and territorial integrity. “This year, we are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of our strategic partnership and the fifteenth anniversary of the signing of a treaty of good neighbourliness, friendship, and cooperation between Russia and China. The treaty created a solid foundation for the progressive development of interstate relations”, he added. During the session, Dmitry Rogozin invited the Chinese delegation to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will take place on June 1–3, 2017.
