Russia and UK to Continue Trade Dialogue During Russian-British Business Forum

The 4th Russian-British Business Forum (RBBF), held in London on 26–27 November, will serve as a platform for promoting the Russian-British dialogue on developing bilateral trade relations. The exchange of information on projects and on companies interested in doing business in Russia and the UK started several months ago, after a lengthy hiatus which began in 2014. This was reported by the representative of the Trade Delegation of Russia in the United Kingdom talking to RIA Novosti correspondent.

“In 2017, the trade turnover between Russia and the United Kingdom amounted to over 12 billion dollars and both sides are interested in increasing this figure. The revitalization of the dialogue on cooperation, which began in 2018, is a good sign for businesses in both countries. RBBF will allow representatives from leading companies to discuss key economic issues facing Russia and the UK and the prospects of developing relations between the two countries in a variety of industries. We hope to see a fruitful dialogue and the signing of new agreements”, said President of the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergei Katyrin.

In 2018, the agenda of the 4th Russian-British Business Forum will focus on the theme of ‘Partnership in Innovation’ and will touch on non-resource-based exports, the digitalization of various industries, the latest technologies, FinTech practices, and expanding services. On 26 November, the primary day of the event, Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre will be host to reports by international experts and an exhibition dedicated to cooperation with Russian regions and companies. New Russian technologies will be presented and round tables on medical innovations held at the RBBF, as well as discussions on cooperation in the field of animation.

“Platforms like RBBF are vital for facilitating detailed dialogue between countries. These are difficult times for mutual understanding, but it is worth remembering that Russia and the UK have a great many things in common and shared business interests. We also need to make use of all effective forms of cooperation. Legitimate trade and investment between our countries continues to be encouraged by both countries  and one important way to rebuild and strengthen trust and, consequently, restore trade and economic cooperation between Russia and the UK is, of course, meetings, discussions, and negotiations between business leaders and investors in both countries as part of the Russian–British Business Forum programme”, said Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce Roger Munnings.

The event will be attended by approximately 800 representatives of the business elite, public organisations, and development institutions from both countries. Presidential Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights Boris Titov, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, General Director of the Russian Export Centre Andrey Slepnev, CEO of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) Svetlana Chupsheva, and representatives of the Skolkovo Foundation, Aeroflot, Sberbank of Russia, and other major companies have confirmed their attendance of the 4th Russian-British Business Forum.

The RBBF is organized by the Trade Delegation of Russia and is supported by various Russian trade agencies, the Russian Embassy in the UK, the Roscongress Foundation, as well as over 30 Russian and international partners.
