SPIEF RACE

SPIEF RACE

For the first time within the scope of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a 5-km SPIEF RACE was held, organized by the World Class Russian fitness club chain and the Roscongress Foundation.

Dmitry Peskov noted that the race was a pioneering innovation for SPIEF and expressed gratitude to the authorities of St. Petersburg for providing the route. “Sport helps one to work and gives one energy. When you spend days on end in a suit, it is a dream for most participants to change into sport gear,” the official explained.

Herman Gref, Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank, admitted that it was the best race in his life. 'With such sceneries and without cars, it is almost impossible to run anywhere', the banker shared his views. 'It is very symbolic that I had number 175 on my T-shirt for today's race, which corresponds with the 175th anniversary of Sberbank. We will celebrate it in November this year'.

The race began at 06:0 at St. Isaac’s Cathedral. The route took the runners past the city’s historical sites: the Winter Palace, Church of the Saviour on the Spilled Blood, Kazan Cathedral and others. The best among the SPIEF participants were Dmitry Razumov, OOO Onexim Group (time – 17:43), and Evelina Levieva, OOO Sovietsky Sport (19:04). The winners among the media were Dmitry Belikov, Our Siberian Character (18:52), and Sophia Mokhova, Rosbalt (21:11). Over 260 runners took part in the SPIEF RACE.
