Charity cruise “Russian Art” is over
June 06, 2008The cruise has been attended by members of 11 children’s art projects and their distinguished leaders: Valery Vorona, Professor, Honored Artist of Russia; Maria Volodina, Honored Artist of Russia; Konstantin Vorobyev, the Director General of “Goskonzert”. Elena Drapeko, the leader of the program “Golden Talents of Russia” and the Deputy Chair of the Committee on Culture of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, was a guest on the liner “Silver Wind”, which cruised from Stockholm to Saint Petersburg.
During five days of the cruise, participants in the project “Russian Art” discussed a wide range of problems concerning culture, spirituality and art education in Russia. As a whole, the project “Russian Art” focuses on development of such important subjects as preserving and developing of cultural heritage and traditions of Russia, attracting investments into art, supporting educational and youth programs, helping gifted children, creating conditions for stability and humanization of the society. “The objective of the program “Golden Talents of Russia” is to keep talented people in Russia, to create conditions for productive work in our country, and not to make them move abroad”, Valery Vorona said.
According to participants in the project “Russian Art”, culture and art should both become a major part of the new government’s policy. Therefore, they must have a status of the national project. “We don’t agree with authors of the bill which proposes to bring down art education in the Russian schools to the level of electives. This will damage the whole existing system of elementary and higher art education and will have a negative effect on the whole Russian society”, Elena Drapeko said.
The participants in the project “Russian Art” suggest developing the system of children’s and youth centers for creative and spiritual development with government-level support, preserving the system of continuous specialized art education, and creating specialized production centers to promote young artistic talents in the current market. In cooperation with the XII Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, the participants in the project “Russian Art” are planning to introduce the discussion of questions on culture and art into the programs of future annual meetings, and to invite world famous producers and artists to the Forum.
