Exhibitors 2016

KNORR-BREMSE GROUP

Founded in 1905, today the Knorr-Bremse Group has become a global market leader in braking and on-board systems for rail transport and lorries.

Every day over a billion people depend on the Group’s products, which gives the company a special responsibility extending to all areas of its activities. This applies both to the provision of safe, reliable, and efficient products and technologies to consumers as well as to Knorr-Bremse’s manufacturing processes, which must also meet the highest safety, quality, and environmental compatibility standards.

Responsible business practices that are firmly grounded in the principles of sustainable development form an integral part of the Knorr-Bremse Group’s strategy.

NORTH CAUCUSES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (VNESHECONOMBANK GROUP)

The North Caucasus Development Corporation (Vnesheconombank Group) joint stock company was founded in 2010 as a tool for implementing government social and economic policy in the North Caucasus Federal District. The corporation works to develop the investment environment in the North Caucasus Federal Region by attracting investors and participating in industrial and infrastructure projects.

The NCDC has helped finance seven investment projects with a total budget from all financing sources of over RUB 30 billion.

The NCDC is acting as the customer for a concept being prepared to create an innovative medical cluster in the Caucasian Mineral Waters region. This is the first attempt in Russia to bring together in one territory balneotherapy and natural, climate-based resources with medical treatment, science, medical education, and pharmaceuticals.

The main goals of the cluster are to create a serious alternative to foreign resorts for Russians, and to establish a nationwide system of medical tourism.

LAKHTA CENTER MIXED-USE COMPLEX

Lakhta Center is a large-scale community and business complex in the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg, with the Gazprom company headquarters located at its core.

Construction is scheduled to be finished in 2018.

The concept for the project foresees the construction of the largest business centre in St. Petersburg, a science and education complex, sports and leisure facilities, and a whole array of publicly accessible services and service sector outlets. Expansive public spaces will be built here, including a unique open-air amphitheatre with a view of the water, to host large-scale citywide events.

The job of the project initiators is to build, outside the limits of the historical city centre, a new focal point for business, relieving historical St. Petersburg from fulfilling the business centre role it is not naturally suited to play and the traffic burden that comes with it.

This city planning approach complies with St. Petersburg’s strategy of transitioning to a polycentric model of development. It will address the pressing problems St. Petersburg must face as a large city: how to create the necessary conditions for business development, attract large companies to the city, and create high-paying jobs.

NPCS

National Payment Card System (NPCS) is the operator of the Mir national payment system.

NPCS’s job is to ensure cards using international payment systems work flawlessly in the Russian Federation, and to build and develop a Russian system for payment cards. Domestic Russian transactions using cards from all payment systems, including international systems, are processed through NPCS’s operational payment and clearing centre.

In December 2015, the first Mir cards were issued.

As of today, there are over 90 participating banks in the Mir payment system, some of which issue Mir cards themselves and have set up their devices (automatic teller machines and cash terminals) to accept them.

NPCS was founded on July 23, 2014. The company is fully owned by the Central Bank of Russia.

The activities of NPCS are regulated by Federal Law No. 161 ‘On the National Payment System’, ‘Strategies for the Development of a National Payment System’, and ‘Concepts for the Creation of a National Payment Card System’.

RUSSIAN EXPORT CENTER

The Russian Export Center is a state institution for supporting exports, created with the backing of the Government of the Russian Federation. innovative development. Regions that are part of the AIRR help to draft the agenda for the development of innovations at the national level.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the AIRR is Sergey Naryshkin, and the Chairman of the Association’s Board is President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The Acting Executive Director of the AIRR is Vice Rector of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration Ivan Fedotov.

BELARUS

Drew Guff, Managing Director and Founder of Siguler Guff, once said: “If you have a mission impossible project in software development, send it to Belarus.” He was not wrong.

Belarus receives the highest per capita income from IT services of any country in the region. The country’s IT sector is growing ten times faster than the global average. Belarusian developers are responsible for such projects as MSQRD, Viber, and World of Tanks. Minsk itself, according to a rating from fDi Magazine (which is owned by the Financial Times), is one of the top ten European cities of the future in the fDi Strategy category. It also took second place in the Cost Effectiveness category. All of this is thanks to the country’s continuously improving business environment.

At SPIEF 2016 Belarus is represented by the National Agency of Investment and Privatization, the National Centre for Marketing and Price Study, and the residents of the Hi-Tech Park, which have a lot of success stories to share as well as proposals, opportunities, and ideas for cooperation.

SUPEROX

Andrey Vavilov founded SuperOx in 2006 with the goal of establishing production of second generation high temperature superconducting tapes. Equipment built with these materials changes the image of today’s energy and transport industry. 2G HTS tapes also allow far more efficient magnetic equipment for research and medicine to be produced. Owing to the unique electric and physical properties of high temperature superconductors, use of 2G HTS tapes results in unique and superior qualities of power cables, fault current limiters, transformers, motors, generators, energy storage systems and magnets.

Innovative equipment for the energy industry made using the key SuperOx material provides protection against overloading of the power system and:

  • reduces electrical short circuit damage
  • reduces the need for network equipment, thus cutting the cost of the power system
  • increases the service life of equipment
  • ensures a low level of losses in the power network
  • improves the quality of the power supply

HELIPORTS OF RUSSIA

The Heliports of Russia national helicopter network is a unique and unparalleled nationwide project to create a major network of mixed-use helicopter facilities. The project is being implemented with active support from national authorities and sector-specific institutions. The main objective is to develop a fundamentally new business model for the creation of a transport network designed to connect Russian cities and offer ample opportunities for the small aircraft sector and a variety of other sectors of the economy.

The network already comprises more than ten modern helicopter facilities. Located throughout the country, including the Ulyanovsk Heliport, the Krasnodar Heliport, the Tyumen Heliport, the Kaluga Heliport, and the Novosibirsk Heliport. In future, such facilities will be established in Russia’s key regions.

The flagship center is the Moscow Heliport, located on Novorizhskoye Shosse, a prestigious thoroughfare just 500 meters away from the Moscow Ring Road, designed to accommodate more than 200 helicopter units. The heliport has a large private fleet of aircraft, including the latest and most popular helicopter models from European and American manufacturers such as: Robinson, Airbus Helicopters, Bell, and AgustaWestland. It has an aerotechnical base, a spare parts warehouse, and hangars for storing aircraft.

A further helicopter facility, Istra Heliport, is located outside Moscow. The heliport is the largest authorized dealer for the Robinson brand in Russia, an authorized Airbus Helicopters service centre, and an authorized Rolls-Royce service centre. Participation in social projects is one of the most important areas of activity for the

Heliports of Russia network. In early 2014, a private search-and-rescue helicopter detachment was established at Moscow Heliport with support from AOPA Russia and the Red Cross. In 2015, the volunteer search-and-rescue detachment ANGEL won a region-wide competition initiated by the Governor of Moscow Region and received an award ‘For invaluable help and assistance in rescue operations in Moscow Region’.
