New Opportunities: Contemporary Russian Art in the BRICS Market
The Russian art industry is increasingly testing the waters beyond Europe. Today, we are witnessing the active development of business projects and intercultural initiatives among BRICS members. The BRICS countries are attractive to Russia because it represents a market of potentially loyal consumers and diversely developing art markets. According to the Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report 2023, China is the third largest art market in the world, accounting for one-fifth of the global market. India, meanwhile, is at roughly the same stage of development as Russia, barely making a dent in global figures. What are the prospects for the development and expansion of Russian contemporary art in the BRICS countries? What steps need to be taken to realize its potential?
