Kupetz Eliseevs Food Hall
Kupetz Eliseevs Food Hall in St. Petersburg is the main gastronomic attraction of the city, a monument of ‘northern art nouveau’ and the first shopping and entertainment complex of the Russian Empire, which opened its doors to customers over 100 years ago. Opened in 1902 by Grigory Eliseev, a merchant, entrepreneur, philanthropist, State Councillor, the trading house of the ‘Eliseev Brothers’ partnership worked as a store of colonial goods, delicacies and foreign wines, as well as a theatre and a restaurant for visitors. Almost the entire historical interior of the shop’s sales area has been preserved and is under state protection as an object of cultural and historical heritage of federal importance. Kupetz Eliseevs Food Hall houses Russia’s first museum of the history of the Eliseev merchants, which presents their personal belongings, letters, archive materials, a collection of antique items and the store's unique photo collection of 150 unpublished photos.
