The forward march of progress necessitates responses to challenges across many sectors. Pooling efforts, expertise, and resources can be a decisive factor in this process, as evidenced by the successful experiences of investment partnerships with countries in the Middle East and Asia. The increasing role of technology is transforming not only production but also everyday activities. Today, it is difficult to determine which will have a greater impact on our future: the industrial application of artificial intelligence or the addressing of pressing climate concerns. Governments and businesses are finding their response by offering support or directing investment in certain spheres. How can the economic and social prospects of projects be combined? What should be the balance between reducing dependence on imports and creating global partnerships? On what criteria should the effective allocation of investments in substantial and breakthrough projects be based?

Vladimir Vasiliev

Rector, ITMO National Research University

Dr. Vladimir Vasilyev (born on April 1, 1951) has been the Rector of ITMO University since 1996 when the Conference of University Employees elected Dr. Vladimir Vasilyev as ITMO University Rector for the five-year term. He's been reelected four times, in 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016. He is an active corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education. He’s been the head of the Council of St. Petersburg Rectors since 2004, vice president of the All-Russian Council of Rectors, and a member of the St. Petersburg Governor's Technical Council.
After graduating from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, in 1983, Dr. Vasilyev joined the Leningrad Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics, which later became ITMO University. In 1991 he became the head of the new department of Information Technologies. His leadership style and vision for innovation, multidisciplinary approach and the importance of partnerships with the industry earned him a prominent position within the university and the scientific community in Russia and beyond. In his capacity as the Rector, he continues to promote those values through creating a unique environment for cutting edge research, international collaboration and education for the modern world.
Dr. Vasilyev is a prominent scientist in the fields of computer telecommunications and mathematical modeling of information systems and multifunctional equipment complexes. He is one of the creators of Russia’s joint scientific educational information environment and the “Electronic Russia” program. Dr. Vasilyev is a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the 2003 and 2005 President of the Russian Federation Award for Excellence in Education and the 2000 and 2008 Government of the Russian Federation Award for Excellence in Education. He is the Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2002), Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation (2010), and the recipient of Golden Medal of the Russian Academy of Education “For Scientific Achievements” (2011).

Andrey Guryev

President, Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAFP)

Andrey Guryev was appointed CEO by PhosAgro’s Board of Directors starting 1 August 2013. Prior to becoming CEO, he served as Deputy CEO of OJSC PhosAgro from April 2011. He was also Deputy CEO for Sales and Logistics of PhosAgro AG from October 2011 to June 2013. From June 2013 to August 2013 Mr. Guryev was the COO of PhosAgro AG. Mr. Guryev has worked at PhosAgro since 2004, holding various positions in the finance department and specialising in fertilizer exports. Mr Guryev graduated from The University of Greenwich in London with a BA in economics, and holds a Master’s degree from the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation. He received a PhD in economics from the National Mineral Resources University (University of Mining).

Kirill Dmitriev

Chief Executive Officer, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF)

Prior to becoming CEO of RDIF in 2011, Kirill Dmitriev headed a number of large private equity funds and completed a series of landmark transactions, including the sale of Delta Bank to General Electric, Delta Credit Bank to Société Générale, STS Media to Fidelity Investments, etc. At the beginning of his career he worked at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey & Company. He is Deputy Chairman of the Investment Council under the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia, Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and was appointed by the President of Russia as a member of the BRICS and the APEC business councils; he also was selected as ‘Young Global Leader’ by the World Economic Forum. He serves as a member of the boards of directors of Rostelecom, Gazprombank, MDMG, Russian Railways and a member of the boards of trustees of the Mariinsky Theatre and Moscow State University.
In 2011 he was the only Russian representative in the list of ‘100 most influential private equity professionals of the decade’ (Private Equity International). He holds a BA in Economics with Honors and Distinction from Stanford University and an MBA with High Distinction (Baker Scholar) from the Harvard Business School.

Sergey Kogogin

Director General, KAMAZ

Born on November 16, 1957 in the village of Bolshiye Klyuchi in the Zelenodolsky District, Tatarstan, Sergey Kogogin began his professional career in 1976 as a milling machine operator at the Kazan Engine Building Plant. He graduated from the Kazan Aviation Technical College in 1977 and received a degree from the Physics Department of the Kazan State University in 1982. Sergey Kogogin worked as a tuning engineer at the Era company in 1982–1985 and as a senior engineer, bureau chief, deputy chief mechanical engineer and chairman of the trade union committee at the Zelenodolsky Machine Engineering Plant from 1985 to 1990. From 1990 to 1994 he managed the Zelenodolsky Machine Engineering Plant and in 1994–1999 was head of the Zelenodolsky District Administration, before being appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Sergey Kogogin has been a member of the Board of Directors of KAMAZ since June 1999 and General Director of KAMAZ since April 26, 2002.
Since January 2006, he has headed the Association of Russia’s Automakers non-profit partnership as its Chairman of the Board.
Sergey Kogogin has a PhD in Economics and holds numerous government and public awards and honorary titles.
