The International Dimension of the Science and Technology Decade: BRICS Cooperation
Science and technology have a unique potential not only to meet great challenges, but also to build trust between nations and peoples. A special role in this belongs to talented young people who drive science forward. In 2022, the President of Russia officially launched the National Decade of Science and Technology. Russia’s chairmanship of BRICS in 2024 is aimed, among other things, at implementing the priorities of interaction between young scientists and innovators. BRICS is literally young: the share of the young population is higher than the global average. Staking on scientific and technological development brings forward various mechanisms to support science-oriented youth. Young people already play a crucial role in economic and S&T development. What initiatives of the Decade could unite the science-oriented youth of the BRICS countries? What are the main priorities for the development of youth research and promotion of science? How much demand is there today for the formation of a community of young scientists and innovators? What new forms of cooperation and experience can be introduced in the BRICS joint work?
