Young People and Money: How Can Information Environment Help with Financial Independence?

According to the all-Russian youth survey, in February 2024, young people aged 14 to 24 – Gen Alpha and Gen Z – demonstrate competent financial behaviour and a responsible attitude to finances. Thus, 66% of them think about their financial situation in the future, 89% consider it important to have a financial safety cushion, and 65% take a rational approach to making purchases. But at the same time 42% are ready to spend on brands, and 23% can take a loan to buy their favourite item. What channel is the most effective in the modern flow of information in promoting financial literacy? What kind of educational content do young people prefer? How can one make the resource popular? How can one involve the young generation in creating competent and understandable media content to promote financial literacy?
