Professor Erik Berglof is the Director of the Institute of Global Affairs (IGA) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The IGA brings together several regional and some thematic research centres in order to increase the impact of research, policy thinking and teaching at the LSE. Prior to the LSE, Erik Berglof was the Chief Economist and Special Adviser to the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Professor Berglof also previously held the position of Director of the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) and Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics. He was Assistant Professor at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles and has held visiting positions at Harvard, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Currently, he is also Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., Treasurer of the International Economic Association, Member of the Governing Board of the Institute of New Economic Thinking in New York, Board Member and Research Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute in Brussels, and Board Members of the New Economic School in Moscow. In 2013 he was awarded the Leontief Medal for his contributions to economic reforms.

Angel Gurría is the Secretary-General of the OECD since June 2006. He was re-appointed to a second mandate in September 2010. As OECD Secretary-General, he has reinforced the OECD's role as a ‘hub” for global dialogue and debate on economic policy issues while pursuing internal modernisation and reform. Mr. Gurría is a Mexican national and came to the OECD following a distinguished career in public service in his country, including positions as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Finance and Public Credit in the 1990s. Mr. Gurría holds a B.A. degree in Economics from UNAM (Mexico) and a M.A. degree in Economics from Leeds University (United Kingdom). He is married and has three children.

Till 2002 he worked as the member of Supreme Economic Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, served as Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning, First Vice-Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2002 to 2006 served as Minister of Economy and Budget Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 2006 to 2008 served as CEO of Kazyna Sustainable Development Fund (the state institutions of development). In January 2008 appointed as Head of Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, then since 2008 to 2011 - CEO of Sovereign Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC. Since April 2011 to January 2012 served as Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In January 2012 was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professor Igor Anatolyevich Maksimtsev, Ph.D. (Economics), Rector of St Petersburg State University of Economics, is a prominent administrator and director of a higher school. Professor Maksimtsev’s work is primarily geared towards the development of educational and research activities at the University and improving the quality of professional training. Professor Maksimtsev is the recipient of a St Petersburg Government Award for achievements in the field of higher professional education. He is responsible for overseeing the restructuring of the economics departments at three leading St Petersburg universities (St Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance, St Petersburg State University of Engineering and Economics and St Petersburg State University of Service and Economics). This work provided the basis for the creation of St Petersburg State University of Economics. Professor Maksimtsev is actively involved in the creation of legislative norms aimed at the improvement and development of higher education.
