The primary objective of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) is to improve the investment climate of a country while enhancing the development of select high-tech sectors. However, a review of the 3000-plus SEZs located in 135 countries demonstrates that more than half of the operating projects worldwide have proven ineffective. What steps should be taken to increase the efficiency of SEZs worldwide?
