The structure of the world economy is undergoing changes owing to technological progress and digitalization. The transition from a mono-centric model to fragmentation into platforms have been aggravated by the crisis in the world trade system and growth of protectionism in various forms. Against this background, the share of intermediate goods in global trade is growing rapidly. At the same time, industries are shifting to high-tech, knowledge-based applications with a growing share of services value, and the effective participation by economies in value chains as drivers of economic growth and integration into global trade is increasing. How will world trade be organized and how can we adapt to the new economic paradigm of the 21st century? Which combination of tools will be most effective in ensuring quality and beneficial integration into Global Trade 2.0?

Peter John Lavelle is a senior journalist and host of “CrossTalk”, presented by the English-language channel RT, a global multilingual television news network (formerly "Russia Today"). Lavelle, from California, is now based in Moscow. Prior to “CrossTalk”, Peter Lavelle hosted RT's programs “IMHO” (In My Humble Opinion), “In Context”, and a business program called "On the Money."
Lavelle received a B.A. in International Economic Relations, an M.A. in European history, and completed Ph.D. courses in Studies in European Economic History from the University of California, Davis. He was a Fulbright Research Fellow at the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. He has been living in Eastern Europe and Russia for over 25 years, working as a lecturer at the University of Warsaw, a market researcher for Colgate-Palmolive, and an investment analyst for brokerage firms, including Russia’s Alfa Bank.
Lavelle has contributed articles to a number of publications including Asia Times Online, The Moscow Times, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, United Press International, The National Interest, and Current History. Lavelle also was the author of "Untimely Thoughts", an electronic newsletter.

James McCormack

James McCormack is a managing director and global head of sovereign and supranational ratings, based in Hong Kong.
James re-joined Fitch in October 2013 from the Bank of Canada where he held a senior credit role. Prior to this, James spent three years with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong where he was an Executive Director in credit risk management and advisory. James joined Goldman Sachs in 2010 from Fitch, where he held various senior roles in the Sovereign Ratings Group, including
Head of the Asia-Pacific Sovereign team.
Prior to joining Fitch, James was a country risk analyst for Export Development Canada and an economist for the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa. James began his career as an economist at Wharton Econometrics (WEFA) Canada.
James earned a BA in economics from York University (Canada) and an MA in international economics from the University of Toronto.

Dmitry Pankin

Mr. Dmitry Pankin was appointed President of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) as of 16 July 2018, for a period of four years.
Mr. Pankin is a Russian national, born in 1957. He graduated from the Economic Faculty of St. Petersburg State University and holds a PhD degree in Economics. He has also completed professional development courses at Bocconi University in Milan and at the City University Business School in London.
In 1990-1995, Dmitry Pankin was Deputy Head of Financial Committee at the St. Petersburg Mayor’s office. In 1995-2003, he was Chairman of the Board at the St. Petersburg Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In 1999-2000, he headed Treasury Department at the Unified Energy System of Russia, the national electric power holding company. In 2004 Mr. Pankin joined the Department of International Financial Relations, Public Debt and Public Financial Assets at the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and held progressively more responsible positions before becoming Deputy Minister of Finance in 2008. In 2011-2013, he headed the Federal Financial Markets Service of the Russian Federation. Mr. Pankin was reappointed Deputy Minister of Finance in 2013 and also became the Governor for the Russian Federation at BSTDB, until he took the position of Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank in 2015, where he worked until the end of 2017.

Paul Chan

Mr Chan is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a former President of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a former Chairman of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Hong Kong.
Before joining the Government, Mr Chan held a number of public service positions including member of the Legislative Council; Chairman of Legal Aid Services Council; Board Member of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority; non-official member of the Strategic Development Commission and Council Member of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Mr Chan served as Secretary for Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government from July 2012 to January 2017. He was appointed Financial Secretary on 16 January, 2017.

Alexander Zhukov

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation

Born June 1, 1956 in Moscow. In 1978 graduated from the Economics Faculty at Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1991 received his diploma from the International Business School at Harvard University. In 1980—1991 worked at the Ministry of Finance, USSR.
Mr Zhukov has been elected six times (in 1993, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2011 and 2016) as a Member of Parliament of the Russian Federation. At the second and third convocations of the Duma he was Committee Chairman for the budget and taxation.
During December 2003—March 2004 and since December 2011 till nowadays he is the Member of Parliament - First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
During March 2004—December 2011 Mr Zhukov took up the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Whilst working for the Russian Federation government he was responsible for the work of the ministries of the Economic Block, as well as for social policies. In 2004—2011 he headed the Board of Directors at the Russian Railways. Since April 2013 has been co-chairman of the Public Council on the development of fast and high-speed railways in the Russian Federation.
In September 2016 he was elected as Member of Parliament - First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 7th convocation.
In the Duma, Mr Zhukov is responsible for creating programmes on legislative activities; leading work on the inter-factional group for developing the President’s Message; overseeing the work of the (tripartite) groups for the improvement of inter-factional relations in the Russian Federation; working with all the budgetary and financial committees of the State Duma, as well as with the Committee of State Construction and the Law; organizing cooperation with the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, with the government, and the executive power. He is also working at the Presidium of the Economic Council, under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation.
Over the course of many years Mr Zhukov has been in charge of support for high performances sports. Since May 2010 he has been President of the Russian Olympics Committee. In 2013 was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee.

Xu Sitao

Sitao is Chief Economist of China, Partner at Deloitte. Formerly, he was at The Economist Group from 2004 to 2014 and held various positions. Before joining The Economist Group, Xu Sitao worked for ICBC (Asia), the overseas flagship of China’s largest bank, as the Head of Economics in 2003. Prior to this, he was Societe Generale’s Chief Economist for Asia (ex-Japan) from 2001 to 2002. He joined Standard Chartered Bank as Regional Treasury Economist in 1996. Previously, Xu Sitao was the Economist for Indonesia, Korea, and Thailand in Singapore, working for MMS International of Standard and Poor’s Group in 1995. Xu Sitao holds a B.A. in Economics from Peking University, an M.A. in Economics from the University of Connecticut, and a M.S. in Finance from Boston College. He has been a columnist for Caijing and 21st Century, China’s leading business publications and has contributed frequently to leading regional and international publications, such as YaleGlobal Magazine, the Asian Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.
