Today we cannot live and work the way we lived and worked 50 years ago. The main reason is the speed of change. The world is changing very quickly. The dynamics and quality of economic growth are increasingly dependent on technological shifts based on innovation. Innovation succeeds each other as day succeeds night. The success of globally known companies that were once start-ups inspires thousands of entrepreneurs to start their own innovative companies. However only a few successfully survive growth crises and are firmly entrenched in the market. Supporting innovation at all stages of business development is an important part of the new strategy of development institutions united on the basis of VEB.RF. As part of the session, heads of specialized development institutions, together with their clients, will discuss and demonstrate, using examples of real projects, a seamless system of support and growing companies: from a “garage” startup to a leader in the digital future. Can business count on the support of the state represented by the VEB.RF group at any stage of its formation, or are the so-called "valleys of death" left? What support measures are the most demanded and relevant? What needs of innovative companies have not yet been met? What technological areas are most promising in the post-pandemic world?

Professor Alexander Kuleshov is the President of Skolkovo Insitute of Science and Technology since February, 2016. He is an expert in information technologies and mathematical modeling. From 2006 - 2016 he was a director of the Kharkevich Institute for Information Transmission Problems (RAS). Kuleshov also has a chair at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Phystech). He is the author of numerous articles and 4 monographs, and a member of the editorial board at the journal “Problems in theory and practice of management.” Dr. Kuleshov is a member of the coordinating council for innovation and intellectual property of the Russian Academy of Science

Kirill Kaem

Kirill Kaem, whose family have been doctors for no fewer than seven generations, graduated from the Kirov State Medical Academy in Nizhny Novgorod in 1992. Five years later he graduated with distinction from the economics department at the Lobachevsky State University, after successfully completing his studies in Russia and the USA on an MBA program run jointly with Taylor University. He has over 20 years' experience in senior management roles, including 15 years as a CEO at the corporation's various international branches. He specializes in launching start-ups in new regions and countries, and new business areas at major firms. From 1992 to 1994 he owned his own business, distributing medical equipment and pharmaceuticals. In 1995 Kirill Kaem set up a network of regional outlets for the Swedish company Oriflame in the Volga Region, which helped it become one of the region's biggest tax-payers. In the year 2000 he began working in Germany, in the central office of the company Varta. After Varta's merger with the American group Spectrum Brands, he spent eight years in overall charge of the company's operations in Russia. In 2008 he relaunched the German and American holding JAFRA International in Russia, improving profit margins by 40%. In 2009 he took control of the Russian holding Hygiene Kinetics, the biggest manufacturer in the market for domestic paper and cellulose products. Within two years the company's sales growth was several times higher than average growth in the sector, thanks to the introduction of new technologies. From 2011 to 2013 he headed up a new area of business at 'Alpha Group' - the biggest federal chain of clinics, 'Alpha Health Centre', where in the space of a year he managed to double revenue, whilst the chain itself saw profits rise by over a third. From 2013 onwards he has been a member of the Board of Directors and a co-founder of the international medical centre 'Medcluster', set up at the initiative of Sberbank in partnership with Strategy Group Partners, with Johns Hopkins Medicine International as a potential partner. From 2013-2017 he was director of the Skolkovo Foundation’s biomed cluster.

Sergey G. Polyakov graduated the National Research University Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology in 1980, in the same place took in 1988 degree of PhD. Since 1988 for 1998 he worked on executive positions in the Center of scientific and technical creativity of youth in National Research University Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology, in the Russian-German enterprise "Albatross", in Zelenоgrad innovation and technology centre (ZITC).
Since 1998 Dr. Polyakov has worked in Foundation for assistance to small innovative enterprises, at the beginning as the Assistant of General director, and in 2008 he was appointed by the order of the Government of the Russian Federation from March, 11th as General Director of Foundation.
Has 54 publications: 9 monographies, 11 educational-methodical works and 34 scientific works devoted to innovative management and management by innovations, the state scientific and technical and innovative policy. All publications are actively used in student practice.
In 2005 to Sergey took degree of the Doctor of Economics.

Oleg Teplov is a Russian economist, banker, and financier. He is Chief Executive Officer of VEB Ventures, a subsidiary of VEB.RF Group. He is among the creators of the National Technology Initiative government programme.

Oleg Teplov has been working in finance and public sector for about 20 years, specializing in technological development of the Russian economy. Before joining VEB Ventures, Oleg held the position of referent at the Expert Directorate with the President of the Russian Federation, where he was involved in the development and implementation of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) and the drafting of the Digital Economy of Russia government programme. As a referent, he created the system of NTI governance and expansion, and developed the National Investment Climate Ranking for Russian regions.

Oleg also leads the Strategic Planning Unit of the Economy and Finance Department at the Executive Office of the Russian Government, as well as the Strategic Planning Department at the Ministry of Economic Development, where he coordinated the activities of the Strategic Initiatives Agency, Industrial Development Fund, Eximbank of Russia, MSP Bank, and the Russian Direct Investment Fund. He also held executive positions in major Russian banks and the global Big Four accounting firms.

At present, VEB Ventures under Oleg Teplov’s management makes high-risk direct investments in technology-related projects, creates venture funds jointly with major Russian corporations and global partners, as well as fosters investment and technology cooperation with R&D centres, major businesses, and development institutions.
