The event was organized by the Roscongress Foundation jointly with the Russian Export Center and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.

The session in Yaroslavl is the first in a new series of regional presentations in the run-up to the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will take place on 1–3 June 2017.

The discussion focused on attracting investment into the real economy and identifying new ways to improve the competitiveness of the Russian regions. Particular attention was given to job creation and developing high-tech production facilities and infrastructure projects in the Central Federal District.

“The SPIEF regional session in Yaroslavl, which forms part of the ‘Russia’s Regions: New Areas of Growth’ series, brought together government representatives, members of the business community, and experts to discuss key issues relating to improving the investment climate in the Central Federal District, identifying domestic and foreign investors, and creating an environment conducive to increasing exports. In this sense, the SPIEF regional sessions are an efficient tool to facilitate the effective development of territories,” said Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov.

The Russian Export Center also held a briefing session at the event on support available to exporters, as well as a master class entitled “Marketing Territories”.

This regional series of events tied to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was first launched in December 2015. “Russia’s Regions: New Areas of Growth” sessions have previously been held in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, and Tula.
