Doing Business in Russia: Regional Opportunities for Korean Business

The business forum “Doing Business in Russia: Regional Opportunities for Korean Business” was held on 25 October 2017 in Seoul (South Korea).  The forum was organized by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects and the Roscongress Foundation, in partnership with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Korea International Trade Association.

Welcoming addresses at the event were offered by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Korea Alexander Timonin, Director General of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects Svetlana Chupsheva, President of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency Jaehong Kim, and Senior Executive Managing Director of Korea International Trade Association Jaechool Lee.

Two presentation sessions described untapped opportunities for doing business in Russia’s Amur, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Novgorod, and Sakhalin Regions, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, in Khabarovsk Territory, and in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra. The presentations were followed by a series of meetings between the Russian Governors and Korean business community representatives.

The event represents an important instrument for practical implementation of the agreements on building a comprehensive partnership between the two countries, reached by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in on 6 September 2017, at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
