This year, the Roscongress Cup will be held to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War. Four teams – Politics, Business, the St. Petersburg Administration and the Champion sports and business community – will take to the ice in retro uniforms.
The tournament’s main trophy will honour Nikolai Sologubov, the legendary Soviet hockey player, Olympic champion and flag bearer for the USSR national team at the 1960 Olympic Games. During the Second World War, Sologubov was wounded four times but returned to the front after each injury. After the war, he became one of the leading defenders among the first generation of Soviet hockey players who won Olympic gold in 1956.
A win at this year’s Roscongress Cup will be even more prestigious. The Business and Politics teams each hold one title at the moment. This year, one of them could pull ahead, or a third team could join them. Either way, it promises to be an exciting contest.
Participation and attendance are by invitation only.

The traditional tournament will bring together entrepreneurs, politicians, and company executives. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: experienced and amateur.
The competition will follow a seven-round Swiss system, with a time control of five minutes plus a three-second increment per move.
The tournament is organized by RC-Sport, the Roscongress Foundation’s sports platform, the St. Petersburg Chess Sports Federation, and the Professor Freud private club.
Participation is by prior registration only.

Participants will prove that even with a packed schedule, there is always time for a favourite sport.
The SPIEF matches will be played in doubles format.

The Champion Awards was created to highlight the role of business in the development of sport, encourage investment in the sports sector, and strengthen ties between sport and business. It is also intended to showcase the beauty of St. Petersburg and the cultural identity of Russia.
This year, the ceremony will take place in the courtyard of Mikhailovsky Castle, following previous events at the Yusupov Palace and the former St. Petersburg Commercial Bank building. The creative concept is inspired by the works of the renowned theatrical artist Léon Bakst and the victories of Russian sport.
Over the years, awards have been presented by celebrated athletes such as Aleksandr Karelin, Vladimir Salnikov, Elena Vyalbe, Nikita Nagorny, Alina Zagitova, and others. This year’s line-up promises to be equally impressive.
Attendance is by invitation only.
