Alexey Gruzdev: Use of innovative solutions and products of Russian companies in Serbia facilitating development of mutual trade and investment

Alexey Gruzdev and Stevan Nikcevic discussed the potential of Russian-Serbian trade and economic relations, priorities in bilateral projects that have been previously initiated as well as promising areas for cooperation.

Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alexey Gruzdev chaired a regular meeting of the Russian-Serbian Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Intergovernmental Russian-Serbian Committee for Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation. The Serbian delegation was led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia Stevan Nikcevic.

The meeting participants paid particular attention to prospects for the localization of production by Russian companies in Serbia and Serbian companies in Russia, the introduction of Russian information, medical, and space technologies, the promotion of high-tech industrial products on the Serbian market, and the expansion of interaction across regions and among small- and medium-sized enterprises.

“The use of innovative solutions and products of Russian companies in Serbia would facilitate both the development of mutual trade and investment as well as the modernization of various sectors of the Serbian economy”, Gruzdev said, commenting on the potential for interaction in high technologies and innovations.

The meeting participants summarized the business mission by representatives of the Belgrade Science and Technology Park at Skolkovo Innovation Centre on 19 September 2017 and noted their interest in joint projects in matters concerning high technologies.

Gruzdev stressed the importance of identifying mutually beneficial priorities in trade and economic relations between the two countries and called for focusing on the practical implementation of the developments that were included in the final protocol of the Working Group meeting.

The progress and agreements achieved during the meeting will be on the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Committee – Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic.

Gruzdev invited Serbian officials to take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on 24–26 May 2018.
