Egypt to Become a Guest Country at the Jubilee SPIEF in 2022

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Russia Ihab Talaat Nasr in Moscow. During the meeting, the parties discussed Egypt’s participation in the jubilee 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum next year as a Guest Country, plans for preparation for the Russia–Africa Summit, as well as resumption of air traffic and related epidemiological safety measures.

“We highly appreciate Egypt’s contribution to the holding of the first Russia–Africa Summit in 2019 chaired by the leaders of our countries. Today we are already starting preparations for the next summit that is to take place in October–November 2022 in one of African countries, and in this matter we also count on Egypt’s friendly assistance,” noted Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov. He also congratulated Ambassador on the forthcoming resumption of air traffic between Russia and Egyptian resorts.

This year Egyptian delegation actively participated in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Minister of International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt Rania Al-Mashat spoke at ‘Russia–Africa’ roundtable and the session titled ‘World EXPOs: International Cooperation as a Driver for Sustainable Global Development’.

“Egypt is interested in the comprehensive development of relations with the Russian Federation. Participation in the jubilee SPIEF 2022 as a Guest Country is a great honour; this format opens up vast opportunities for organizing joint business events on the sidelines of the Forum, which directly contributes to the strengthening of trade and economic ties between our countries,” noted Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Russia Ihab Talaat Nasr.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was the cooperation between Russia and Egypt in fighting the coronavirus infection. Egypt has already bought 20 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine from Russia and plans to produce 40 million doses on its territory. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Russia Ihab Talaat Nasr also spoke about epidemiological safety measures both in the country as a whole and in tourist areas. He noted that all necessary measures were taken in Egypt, including vaccination of people working in the tourism sector.
