Creative Business Forum Presents its Programme for SPIEF 2021

The Creative Business Forum, which will be held on 2 June during the opening day of the SPIEF business programme, and on a thematic discussion platform on the main days of the Forum, has released its programme. The main theme of the Forum is ‘Creative Economy in a New Reality’.

The main day of the Creative Business Forum features discussions on four key topics: the ecosystem of creative industries; the potential of human capital; the development of creative cities; and the rules of the creative economy. These topics will be examined in turn through the eyes of politicians, practitioners and visionaries.

The opening plenary session ‘What Will Russia Come up with Next?’ will bring together statesmen, creative industry practitioners and visionaries to answer this important question.

“The Creative Business Forum is unique in that, for the first time, it is uniting politicians, practitioners, and visionaries from all over the world on a single platform to discuss the economic potential and prospects for the creative industries,”said Elena Marinina, director of the Creative Business Forum and the Innosocium Foundation.

One of the key items on the government’s agenda will be Russia’s integration into the international creative economy market and competitiveness in this market. The participants will also discuss the country’s future participation in EXPO 2021, in Dubai. Experts from different countries will address such issues as: attracting investment to the creative sector; the potential of socio-cultural creative projects; and the development of creative cities.

Visionaries will discuss the influence that bloggers have on the field of professional journalism and the impact of the latest artificial intelligence technologies, as well as exploring what Russian cities need to become global art capitals.

The SPIEF business programme will also include key sessions of the Creative Business Forum on 3–4 June at the Innosocium Lab. The main event will be a World Café format talk entitled ‘Why Do I Need Creative Industries?’. Pitch sessions on Russia’s national folk craft industries will be held, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov will host a public discussion on the development of the creative industries.

“Today, it is essential to create the right conditions for a major breakthrough in the creative industries. There are already some examples of projects that have been implemented which, I am certain, will be discussed at the Creative Business Forum. But a comprehensive approach, systemic support at state level and a constant dialogue between the creative sphere, government and business are key to creating a favourable environment for the self-realization of the young generation,” Lyubimova said.

Qatar, the SPIEF guest country, will host the Russia–Qatar Cultural Dialogue at its booth as part of the Creative Business Forum’s business programme. Representatives from both countries’ political, business and scientific fields will talk about: global trends that are already, or are rapidly becoming, part of international culture; which unique cultural products are exported from these countries; and how the creative industries are developing in Qatar.

On 5 June, the Creative Business Forum will conclude with events as part of the SPIEF 2021 Youth Day.

The Creative Business Forum’s conversation partners will include representatives of key international cultural organizations: including London Design Museum Director Tim Marlow, Aga Khan Trust for Culture of India CEO architect and project director Ratish Nanda, Dubai Design Week Director Mette Degn Christensen, Belgrade Design Week Founder Jovan Jelovac and Design Miami Curatorial Director Aric Chen.

The Creative Business Forum’s international partner is the leading Italian design magazine INTERNI, whose editor-in-chief, Gilda Boiardi, is the curator of the world famous FuoriSalone Festival in Milan.

The organizer of the Creative Business Forum is the Innosocium Foundation, the social platform of the Roscongress Foundation. The Forum will be held with the strategic partnership of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The Forum’s strategic partner is Gazprom-Media Holding and the General Partner is Alfa-Bank.
