Healthcare: a key topic of the SPIEF business programme

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Roscongress Foundation’s project ‘Healthy Life’ spearheaded a series of expert discussions on healthcare development.  

16 June 2022 saw the opening ceremony of the Healthy Life Area, attended by Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Veronika Skvortsova, Head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of the Russian Federation, Lydia Mikheeva, Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board, CEO of the Roscongress Foundation, Anastasia Stolkova, head of the Health Directorate at the Roscongress Foundation.

“There is nothing more precious than the health of each and every person and the health of the nation. I welcome you all and I hope that, this year, as before, this area will be full of energy, new ideas and new proposals, and that we will meet here again next year as healthier, more beautiful people, that we will have fulfilled the recommendations offered here”, said Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly.

The Healthy Life Area has traditionally been an important element of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum’s programme. Business programme sessions held as part of the Healthy Life Area span a broad range healthcare development issues.

Expert discussions during the Healthy Life Area business programme touched on aspects of developing science and technology transfer, import substitution and medical innovations, training of management personnel, boosting public health and developing preventive medicine, the role of NPOs in providing medical care, and other important healthcare issues.

The Healthy Life Area business programme sessions were organized with support from the Federal Research Institute for Health Organization and Informatics of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the SENEZH Educational Centre (“Russia – the Country of Opportunities” Project), Sechenov University, the Sechenov University’s Leadership and Healthcare Management Institute, the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, and other organizations.

The ‘Ensuring Drug Security’ Russian Pharmaceutical Forum, the main annual business event in the pharmaceutical sector, was another highlight on the SPIEF sidelines. It is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with support from the Health Ministry of the Russian Federation and the Subcommittee for Drug Commerce Regulation under the Health Protection Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The Forum is held annually as a leading venue for discussing the pharmaceutical sector’s business agenda.

The Russian Federation’s Federal Medical-Biological Agency and its Centre for Strategic Initiatives are strategic partners of the Healthy Life Area, while Petrovax Pharm, Bristol Myers Squibb and Evalar are its partners.

The Doctor TV channel, Farmatsevticheskii Vestnik (Pharmaceutical Bulletin), and Medvestnik (Medical Bulletin) are the General Media Partners of the Healthy Life Area.
