Winners of My Country – My Russia Contest To Be Announced at SPIEF 2018

A press conference dedicated to the results of the first stage of the Fifteenth Anniversary Russian National contest My Country – My Russia was held 22 March 2018. This is a contest of young authors' projects in the education for social and economic development of Russian territories.

The participants included Lyubov Dukhanina, the Chairman of the Russian Society Znanie, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Igor Mikheev, Director of the Department of State Policy in the Education of Children and Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation; Alexander Bugayev, Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs; Armen Khachatrian, Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation; Larisa Pastukhova, Chairwoman of the Youth Social and Economic Initiatives Union, Executive Secretary of the contest; Viktor Basyuk, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education; Alexander Kozlov, head of the Federal project of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation ‘Competent Consumer School’.

“Over the period of fifteen years more than fifty eight thousand people took part in the My Country – My Russia contest. This year the contest has a record number of participants: seven thousand people from the various regions of the Russian Federation. Attracting young adults to solving social and economic issues of their own regions, cities and towns is one of the main objectives of the contest. Federal and regional executive authorities, partner NGO and businesses support the best projects and initiatives”, reported Viktor Basyuk, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education.

“We frequently talk about Russia as a land of opportunity and this contest is its main mechanism”, added Lyubov Dukhanina, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

“I believe that holding the award ceremony on the site of such a significant international economic event as SPIEF will become a priceless experience for our contestants. Because today it’s a modest initiative, but the road to the wide world goes through your house door. Maybe in a few years they will become leaders of large companies or will start to an international business with Russian roots. That’s why this format is a great incentive for those taking part”, pointed out Larisa Pastukhova, Chairwoman of the Youth Social and Economic Initiatives Union, Executive Secretary of the contest.

Armen Khachatrian, Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation noted the significance of bringing youth to the key international economic forums of the country.

“Complying with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation on setting up a youth platform at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum we intend to organize an array of youth themed events. For example, we plan to hold the International Youth Economic Forum and the high-profile awards ceremony for the winners of the contest My Country – My Russia. At the Youth Economic Forum participants will be able to discuss key economic and political issues, including those on the main business programme of the SPIEF, with the leaders of international and Russian business, the prominent international experts and scientists, and exchange opinions and ideas. We put a special emphasis on promoting youth initiatives and volunteering at the Roscongress Foundation events in general. Most recently we organized the Young Entrepreneur Day at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi. Roscongress was the organizer of the World Festival of Youth and Students. Special youth events are a part of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok and the Russian Energy Week”, Mr. Khachatrian stated.

Armen Khachatrian also proposed to organize a meeting for the winners of the contest My Country – My Russia with the leaders of the new generation, the finalists of the Leaders of Russia contest at the SPIEF to share experiences and discuss initiatives and possibly further distribute of the best practices in our country and abroad.
