Foreign investors return to Russia

A report of EY (Ernst & Young) was presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The number of projects on Russian soil that received foreign investments over the year grew by 61%, up to 201, returning to the figures of 2010.

Manufacturing remains the most attractive area for foreign investors, the study says.

Russia placed eighth among European countries with the greatest activity of foreign investors.

Western Europe remains the largest foreign investor in the Russian economy. Companies of the Old World invested funds in 106 projects on Russian soil, the leaders being Germany, France and Italy. USA trail Europe in terms of activity in Russia with 29 projects enjoying direct foreign investment.

As for the number of jobs created thanks to foreign investment, Russia ranked fourth in Europe, with approximately 13.5 thousand jobs.

Europe remains the leader in terms of the number of foreign investments. Over five thousand investment projects were initiated there last year – a 14% increase over 2014 – allowing over 200 thousand jobs to be created.
