A meeting has taken place in Moscow between Gary Koren, Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Russian Federation, and Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.

They discussed the participation of the Israeli delegation in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018 as well as, in broader terms, promising cooperation between Russia and Israel in the areas of trade and investment.

"Israel is one of the leading trade and economic partners of Russia in the Middle East. I am sure that we will maintain the positive momentum in the relationship between our countries, and it will strengthen our traditionally close ties," Kobyakov noted.

Gary Koren emphasized that Israeli delegation is going to actively participate in both business and cultural programme of the upcoming Forum. Representatives of Israeli companies and business groups will speak at the panel sessions on agriculture, medicine and environment. Israeli high-technology companies and successful start-ups are especially interested in attending the Forum.

The Israeli diplomat said that the delegation might be led by Zeev Elkin, Minister of Environmental Protection and of Jerusalem Affairs, and Co-Chairperson of the Mixed Russian-Israeli Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

The parties discussed a possible bilateral Russia-Israel business dialogue or a thematic round table at SPIEF 2018.

They also discussed the ways to extend cooperation by organizing events together with Roscongress. The parties agreed to establish a partnership between the Roscongress Foundation and the Israel Export Institute.

"The interaction within the key business events organized by the Roscongress Foundation will undoubtedly help strengthen the existing ties and extend relations, and enable cooperation and further development of business and cultural dialogue between Russia and Israel," Kobyakov noted.
