The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Invited ASEAN Members to Participate in Russian Business Events
A meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and the Secretary General of ASEAN Lim Jock Hoi took place in Moscow.
In the course of the meeting, Sergey Lavrov called relationships with the Association an important area of focus for the Russian foreign policy, “We view ASEAN as a reliable partner and a fellow associate in creating an open and balanced architecture of equal and indivisible security in the Asia-Pacific Region; moreover, we assign the central place in this architecture to the ten ASEAN countries.”
The Minister noted the active growth of cooperation between Russia and ASEAN in practical areas, including energy, digital economy, agriculture, healthcare, and environment.
“In order to strengthen our various ties with ASEAN we actively use the venues of the St. Petersburg International and the Eastern Economic Forums, where the representatives of your countries come on the regular basis. Last year, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir bin Mohamad was one of the guests of honour at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. We expect ASEAN to participate in top-level events this year as well,” said Sergey Lavrov.
