SPIEF 2021 Releases Business Programme
The business programme of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum event has been published on the event’s official website. The main theme of the Forum is ‘A Collective Reckoning of the New Global Economic Reality’.
The ‘Joining Forces to Advance Development’ track will feature sessions on such issues as cooperation in the international arena, the transformation of various industries in the post-COVID period as well as the development of investment projects. In particular, participants in the session ‘Business in a Post-Pandemic World: Responsible Investment in the Future’ will discuss how the business strategies of Russian and international companies and the economy have changed as a whole, and how business is revising its investment strategies and social programmes.
“As we recover from the economic crisis, stimulating companies’ investment activity is a key task facing the state. The ‘project financing factory’ is being implemented to ensure growth in investments in priority sectors in Russia. In May this year, the Russian government adopted decisions that will expand the range of potential investors. Support for and the implementation of investment projects will become a key theme in the business programme of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the Russian President and Executive Secretary of the SPIEF Organizing Committee.
Per tradition, the results of the Russian Regions’ Investment Climate National Rating will be presented on the sidelines of the SPIEF. Since its inception, the National Rating has proven to be highly effective in terms of assessing the efforts of the government authorities at all levels to improve the business environment, and its results promote competition in the battle for investment at the regional level.
The ‘Delivering on National Development Targets’ track will cover a wide range of issues concerning the development of the Russian economy and its transformation in new conditions. The programme includes the sessions ‘The Russian Economy’s Transition from Crisis Mitigation to Enhanced Long-Term Economic Growth Prospects’, ‘Creating a Circular Economy in Russia: How Will the Environmental Agenda Impact Production and Consumption?’, ‘The Investment Attractiveness and Export Potential of Strategically Important Industries’, and ‘The 78+ Target: Responding to the Challenges of the Pandemic’, among others.
Expert discussions in the ‘The Human Factor in Responding to Global Challenges’ track will address such issues as collaboration between the government, business, and non‑profit organizations in solving socio-cultural problems, the development of creative industries, the cultural codes of the new reality, and other topics. The ‘Women in the Creative Industries’ visiting lounge of the Eurasian Women’s Forum will focus on women’ role in business.
The sessions in the ‘New Technology Frontiers’ track will deal with the development of technologies in medicine, e-commerce, the use of artificial intelligence in business and art, and cybersecurity.
The SPIEF programme also includes a meeting of the Arctic Economic Council, which will hear a presentation of Russia’s priorities and discuss the main focuses of cooperation during Russia’s presidency in the Arctic Economic Council.
Events on the sidelines of the SPIEF will include the breakfast ‘Innovation Models Spurring Regional Development’, a breakfast for pharmaceutical companies, and the breakfast ‘Global IT: Resources for Growth’.
