St. Petersburg Seasons Festival Programme Published

The official website of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum published the programme of the St. Petersburg Seasons Festival of Culture. Guests and participants of the Forum will have a chance to enjoy unique concerts, exhibitions and film screenings prepared by the leading cultural institutions of St. Petersburg.

"Culture reflects the identity of a nation. Russian culture embodies universal values of the entire world, while simultaneously being a part of the global cultural and historical heritage. History is what unites nations and promotes intercultural dialogue," said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.

 "Despite certain changes in the foreign policy climate, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will once again serve as an important discussion platform. The St. Petersburg Seasons festival is a significant part of the Forum's programme. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate the hospitality and openness with which Russia greets its guests," stressed Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Traditionally, the cultural programme includes a variety of exhibitions. From 15 to 18 June the Russian Museum will host the exhibitions “Mikhail Vrubel. Marking the 165th Anniversary of the Artist’s Birth”, “A Navigator and A Carpenter. Peter the Great in the Russian Artistic Culture”, “Preserving History: 100 Years of the Russian Museum Restoration Workshops”, and “Alexander Rubtsov. 18841949”. The headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society will host an exhibition, devoted to the Arctic region exploration. Institute of Oriental manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Science has prepared an exhibition entitled “Manuscript Treasures of Chinese Culture on the Banks of the Neva”, displaying the masterpieces of hand-written books of Eastern countries. The collection of the RAS is one of the largest in the world and the largest in Russia, numbering over 115,000 items in 65 dead and living languages. The unique collection is housed in the luxurious interiors of the Novo-Mikhailovsky Palace, a striking example of 19th century palatial architecture.

Forum days will see the performances by the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the soloists of the MusicAeterna orchestra. The Big St. Petersburg State Circus will present “Odyssey”, the musical on water.

A special gift awaits drama fans on 17 and 18 June. The main stage of Alexandrinsky theatre will host the touring performances of the “12” by the Nikita Mikhalkov’s Theatre and Cinema Centre, organized together with the directorate of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

The St. Petersburg Seasons festival will culminate in the “Stars of the Russian Radio” concert. Open to the city residents and Forum participants, the show will be held on 17 June in Palace Square.

In addition, the festival will host a number of events dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great, including the premiere of the film titled “Peter the Great” and a gala night at the Mikhailovsky theatre.

On 18 June Kronshtadt will host “Sails of Kronshtadt” festival with a rich programme for children and adults, also timed to the anniversary.

Charity, youth, children and sports programmes are included in the evening events of this year's festival.

The 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held 15–18 June 2022.
