Topic Proposed for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023
The Roscongress Foundation and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives have opened a crowdfunding platform, Powerful Ideas for a New Era, to collect proposals for the topics to be discussed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2023.
Voting organizers invited citizens and the expert community to contribute to shaping the SPIEF 2023 programme.
“The collection of proposals on the permanent crowdfunding platform ideas.roscongress.org is a format that promotes the development of mechanisms for citizen participation in the life of the country by establishing direct open dialogue between society, the expert community, the authorities and business to implement nationwide objectives. This format has already proved its relevance. We expect that citizens will now also take an active part in gathering ideas for SPIEF 2023, offering their vision for solving the most important tasks in the interests of society and government,” said Anton Kobyakov, Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation.
The topics are defined within eight areas. These are new ideas for the Russian economy under sanctions; strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty; shaping a new world order; a new global financial model; socioeconomic development; digitalization and the cutting-edge technology; new age world trade and logistics; and the proposals made by active participants. Some 300 topics have already been proposed in the first 24 hours since the start of the processes. So far, the most frequently proposed topics are in the socio-economic development track – they account for about a quarter of all the proposals received.
“This format, where the discussion is built around the proposals of active citizens, has already proved its effectiveness in preparing the ‘Powerful Ideas for a New Era’ forums, which took place in 2020 and 2022. We received a total of 35,000 applications. We processed each one of them together with experts and partners. This year, the experiment is expanding – we are offering to take part in an event of global scale and suggest topics of interest to people to be discussed at SPIEF,” said Svetlana Chupsheva, CEO of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.
The topics will be collected until 15 February. Based on the results of the discussion, the authors of the most relevant ones will receive an invitation to SPIEF 2023.
The platform ‘Powerful Ideas for a New Era’ was created in 2020 at the initiative of the Roscongress Foundation and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. In three years, over 300 thousand participants joined it. In 2020 and 2022, the platform was used to collect ideas for the federal forum ‘Powerful Ideas for a New Era’. Its creators and organizers provided a platform for citizens to openly propose their ideas aimed at improving the life of society and the country's economy.
The authors of the top ideas received invitations to the in-person part of the forums in 2020 and 2022. Twenty ideas with the maximum potential for society and the economy were presented by the authors personally to Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation. Thanks to this platform, thousands of ideas were supported by the Forum partners, representatives of federal executive bodies and regional executive bodies and are being actively implemented.
