Prospects for cooperation between Russia and Iran to be discussed at Tehran business forum
The Russia–Iran Business Forum is due to take place in the Iranian capital Tehran on December 13, 2016. The Business Forum has been designed to promote the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held on June 1–3, 2017. The Roscongress Foundation will act as the organizer for the event. The plenary session will be opened by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation and Co-Chair of the Permanent Russian–Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Alexander Novak.
The Russia–Iran Business Forum has been organized with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Economic Development, and Ministry of Energy, the Russian Export Center, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the Russian–Iranian Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Russian Federation.
Event participants will include: Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi, Russian Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Russian Federation Mehdi Sanai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Islamic Republic of Iran Levan Dzhagaryan, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Georgy Kalamanov, CEO of EXIAR and Executive Director of the Russian Export Center Alexey Tyupanov, Director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Konstantin Zubanov, CEO of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives Andrey Nikitin, and Chair of the Russian–Iranian Chamber of Commerce Asadollah Asgaroladi.
According to Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Georgy Kalamanov, there is great potential for the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Iran, in terms of expanding bilateral trade and diversifying the product portfolio, as well as in industrial cooperation. In this respect, this Business Forum could not have been better timed.
The event will give Russian and Iranian officials and representatives from the business community an opportunity to discuss new options for trade, economic, and investment cooperation, means of supporting Russian and Iranian business at the state level, ways to strengthen industrial and technological relations between Russian and Iran, and cooperation in the energy, agriculture, finance and banking, and science and technology sectors.
As well as ministers and officials from Russia and Iran, the event will see the participation of Russian and foreign companies including Rosgeologia, HMS Group, UralVagonZavod, Rotec, Russian Helicopters, United Aircraft Corporation, and United Wagon Company.
