SPIEF 2021: Results of Qatar delegation's second day

The Qatari delegation has just completed its second day at SPIEF 2021.  This day has been marked by a new round of negotiations between Russia and Qatar resulting in productive accords and agreements useful for both countries.

 

The day started off with an open interview with H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, by CNBC's Anchor Hadley Gamble on “West Asia and North Africa: Paths Towards Stability and Prosperity”. 

The interview session was held within Doha Forum, a global platform that has brought together political leaders since 2000 and serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and the development of action driven recommendations. Today's session served as a platform for discussing the challenges facing the region and the prospects for bilateral cooperation between our countries. 

Then Saud Bin Abdulla Al Attiyah, Deputy Undersecretary For Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance of the State of Qatar made a presentation entitled “Qatar’s Economic Story." Qatar’s economy has changed dramatically over recent years and become one of the most developed and advanced countries in the globe, with Qatar ranking the TOP-5 in terms of GDP per capita. The session discussed how Qatar had successfully implemented meaningful economic reforms while constantly showing growth across all spheres of society. In addition, the session provided some insights about the recent improvements in the investment and doing business environment to sustain the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and All-Russia Public Organization “Delovaya Rossiya” (Business Russia) held a session titled “Digital Transformation of Business”. Today's business is undergoing fundamental changes associated with digital transformation in all aspects from corporate governance to communications. The digitalization of business and entire industries is the only way to meet the rapidly changing global environment. Among the speakers were Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al-Thani, Managing Director, Qatar Financial Centre, Henk Jan Hoogendoorn, Managing Director, Financial Sector Office, Qatar Financial Centre, Sarah Al-Dorani, Chief Marketing Officer, Qatar Financial Centre, Pavel Titov, President, Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia), Igor Runets, Founder & General Director, Bitriver, Evgeniy Kovnir, General Director, Digital Economy, Anatoly Valetov, Acting General Director, Moscow Innovation Cluster, Mr. Thani Ali Al Malki, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar. The session was moderated by Mikhail Serdyuk, Delovaya Rossiya Business Ambassador in Qatar. The speakers discussed the further development of digital technologies and the digital world of the future, the business benefits of big data technologies, blockchain, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, corporate information systems, e-commerce, and if these technologies had a downside. The stated topic was followed by a networking session in a cafe.

The “Cultural Dialogue Russia-Qatar” round table completed yesterday’s agenda. Over the discussion, the participants were reflecting on the role of universities, museums, galleries, cinemas, art fairs, festivals, and other state and private-funded entities in expanding knowledge, deepening understanding of social processes. The joint cultural projects between Russia and Qatar were also raised at the round table along with the experience of Qatar Film Days, support for art communities during a pandemic and new ways of interacting with the public.

Recall that Qatar participates in SPIEF 2021 as a guest country. The Qatari delegation has become one of the largest in the history of the SPIEF and brought together high-ranking officials, politicians, business representatives, heads of government and public organizations.
