Approximately 50 countries express interest in cooperating with EAEU

Some 50 countries have expressed a desire to cooperate with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), according to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

“Altogether, around 50 states have expressed interest in developing cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union”, Lavrov stated during a Government Hour presentation at the Russian Federation’s State Duma.

He noted that this would help embed Russia into the integration processes of the Asia-Pacific region.

The EAEU is an international integrated economic association founded on the basis of a customs union and a single economic space. It has been operational since January 1, 2015. Currently, the member states of the EAEU are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.
