Prospects for Russia–Europe business cooperation discussed in Moscow

Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation met with Tadzio Schilling, CEO of the Association of European Businesses (AEB), in Moscow to discuss key issues concerning European business engagement with Russia and participation in SPIEF 2025.

SPIEF remains a crucial platform for forging strategic alliances and contracts. European companies see the Forum as an important opportunity to establish business connections and reaffirm their commitment to the Russian market. “Having gained a sense of independence, Russian businesses are now not only looking to expand into foreign markets but are also ready to discuss their export potential and technological leadership by offering solutions that meet international standards,” Kobyakov stated. He emphasized that major events such as the Caucasus Investment Forum and the Eastern Economic Forum continue to facilitate discussions on technological and economic trends, as well as knowledge exchange. Topics like artificial intelligence and new materials remain high on the agenda.

Tadzio Schilling highlighted that in 2024, cooperation between AEB member companies and Russia grew by 16%, with growth rates of 31% at the Eastern Economic Forum and 16% at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. These figures underscore the significance of Russian business platforms for European partners. “Russian forums continue to play a key role for those interested in economic dialogue with our country,” he added. Tadzio Schilling also noted that all AEB partners maintain collaboration with the Roscongress Foundation, demonstrating the stability and resilience of business relations. “We remain optimistic about restoring these ties,” he stressed.

Particular attention was given to the Roscongress International business networking area, which will be presented in a revamped format at upcoming forums. This space will offer European partners unique opportunities to showcase their projects, hold meetings, and exchange expertise.

Anton Kobyakov pointed out that despite sanctions, European businesses remain eager to preserve their partnerships with Russia.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place on 18–21 June 2025.
