Putin invites representatives of Indonesia to SPIEF and the Eastern Economic Forum

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has invited representatives of Indonesia to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June and to the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in September. This was announced by the head of state at a press conference following talks with his Indonesia colleague Joko Widodo.

“During our discussion, we confirmed the intention of increasing collaboration in all spheres,”Vladimir Putin noted. According to his data, “after a certain reduction in the volume of trade last year, this year an increase has been noted, with trade over the first three months going up by almost 14%.”The Russian leader is convinced that the Russian Federation and Indonesia should not only maintain this tempo, but also increase it.“We have invited Indonesia partners to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and to the Eastern Economic Forum and agreed to assist business circles on a systemic basis,” the RussianPresident stated.

At the same time, Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo invited the Russian leader Vladimir Putin to visit his country.

“I am grateful to the Russian side for the atmosphere surrounding our talks,” he said. “The dialogue was very constructive, and we discussed frankly and in detail matters of interest to us. With great respect, I would like to invite Vladimir Putin to visit Indonesia.”

Vladimir Putin andJoko Widodofirst met onNovember 10, 2014 on the sidelinesof the APEC Summitin Beijing. The Russian leader has been to Indonesia twice:on an official visit in 2007 and to participate in the APEC Summit in Bali in 2013.
