Roscongress Foundation and Uruguay XXI pool resources to develop business dialogue between two countries

On February 16, 2017, following talks in Moscow between President of Uruguay Tabaré Vázquez and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a cooperation agreement was signed by the Roscongress Foundation and the Uruguay XXI Investment and Export Promotion Agency. The signing ceremony was led by Roscongress CEO Alexander Stuglev and his counterpart at Uruguay XXI, Antonio Carámbula Sagasti.

The agreement envisages cooperation between the two organizations in facilitating effective communications between the expert communities and business and political circles in Russia and Uruguay.

Among the areas highlighted for collaboration are: the development of shared platforms for communication at an international level with the aim of encouraging intergovernmental cooperation in various spheres; the identification and development of new opportunities for long-term partnership between representatives of the business community, as well as joint efforts to strengthen existing ties; and the development of a dialogue between the two sides in regard to collaboration in investment, finance, and import–export activities, as well as in the area of tourism and culture.

“Today’s agreement is of great significance to both our organizations. We have agreed to share advice, information, and expertise in the course of jointly hosted congress and exhibition events on economic and social themes. This includes forums, conferences, roundtables, business meetings, trade fairs, and presentations. I am certain that by pooling our resources we will be enabling a livelier dialogue between members of our business communities, and doubtless helping to grow and strengthen the trade and economic relationship between our two countries as a whole”, said Roscongress Chairman Sergey Vyazalov.

The Roscongress Foundation will shortly be hosting the 2nd Russia–Latin America Business and Media Forum in Havana (April 10–11, 2017). The event is being held with the support of: the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economic Development; the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment and Ministry of Agriculture; the Cuba Chamber of Commerce; UNIDO’s Latin America and Caribbean Regional Division; the National Committee for Promoting Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries (NK SESLA); and the Bering-Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas (IBBA). Participants can expect a wide-ranging business programme, including discussions on current topics relevant to trade, economic, and investment collaboration. Particular attention will be paid to ways in which Russian companies could contribute to infrastructure development projects in Latin America.
