Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the SPIEF Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov met with a delegation from Chinese media holding company People’s Daily (Renmin Ribao) in Moscow.
Members of the delegation included Editor-in-Chief of Global Times (Huanqiu Shibao) Fan Zhengwei, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People’s Daily Cui Shixin, Head of People’s Daily Eurasia Yu Hongjian, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Global Times Zhang Pei, Deputy Head of People’s Daily International Cooperation Department Liu Rui, Editor of People’s Daily International News Department Zhang Yuannan, People’s Daily Correspondent for Eurasia Xiao Xinxin, and General Director of World Business Media, the official representative of Global Times in Russia, Arkady Komarov.
The meeting focussed on strategic cooperation between Russia and China in sustainable logistics, industrial cooperation, and cultural exchanges, with the parties discussing key areas of partnership between the two countries in the information space, China’s involvement in issues of Arctic development, joint infrastructure projects, and media interaction.
“Russia and China continue to strengthen their strategic partnership in key areas – from infrastructure to media cooperation. Last year our countries celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, we attach special importance to projects that reflect common interests and shared historical values. These include the participation of Chinese companies with special shipbuilding and manufacturing knowhow in the development of the Arctic, the launch of the Nizhneleninskoye–Tongjiang railway crossing, which expands transport connectivity, the participation of Chinese partners in the Baimsky GOK project in Chukotka, of strategic importance for the development of the Russian economy, and joint media initiatives, all demonstrating the forward-looking nature of our cooperation. The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum provides unique opportunities to promote such initiatives and strengthen humanitarian dialogue between partners,” Kobyakov said.
The dialogue also looked at cultural interaction and the expansion of information cooperation in the context of the Russian-Chinese Years of Culture in 2024–2025. Joint projects in media, culture, and education aimed at strengthening understanding and developing bilateral cultural dialogue were discussed.
People’s Daily will be participating once again in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum as an official media partner. The Roscongress Foundation will sign a cooperation agreement with the People’s Daily media group at SPIEF 2025 to develop joint media projects, promote its business agenda internationally, and expand cultural exchange.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place on 18–21 June and is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
