Russian Medal-Holders from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to Take Part in the SPIEF 2022 Business Programme

Russian national team leaders Evgeny Rylov (swimming), Nikita Nagorny (gymnastics), Dina and Arina Averina (both – artistic gymnastics) will take part in the ‘Champions: From Medal to Brand’ session at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The session will be held on 16 June at 15:00. The discussion organizers are the Roscongress Foundation and Match TV channel.

Russian sportsmen are temporarily deprived of the opportunity to perform internationally but their potential goes way beyondwinning medalsDevelopment of the personal brands of Russia’s national teams, expansion of their functional taking into account society’s objectives, preparation for possible work in international federations, involvement in developing mass and corporate sport, creation of their own schools – all these are opportunities for the sportsmen themselves, for the state and for potential partners. The session at the main business event of the year will discuss how to reveal this potential and how to help sportsmen establish a dialogue with society and business,” noted Georgy Bryusov, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Athletic Training of Russian National Teams (CAT)

Evgeny Rylov won gold medals in the 100 and 200 metres backstroke swimming at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. These were the first gold medals of the Russian national swimming team since the 1996 Olympics. Nikita Nagorny, captain of the Russian national team in gymnastics, which won in the team overall competition at Tokyo 2020. We had also not seen an Olympic gold in this sport for a quarter century. Dina Averina is an 18-times World Champion, the best result ever in the history of artistic gymnastics. Arina Averina holds five gold world championship medals. 

The Russian national team leaders will also take part in the opening ceremony and the SPIEF Run awards ceremony on 16 June, as well as other events of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
