Russia and Republika Srpska to continue trade and economic cooperation

Russia and the Republika Srpska (part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) are to continue their trade, economic, and cultural cooperation, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting with Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik today.

“It is a pleasure to see you. We meet regularly,” he said. “Our relations are based on the agreements reached, above all during your meetings with Putin.”

Lavrov added that the aim of the agreements was “to ensure full respect for the Dayton Accords and to prevent any violation of the rights of the peoples… that make up the country.”

“We are concerned, of course, over the recent attempts to revise these principles,” he emphasized. “We know that some of our Western partners are trying to close their eyes to these attempts or to directly encourage them.”

Lavrov noted that a meeting of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council had recently taken place at Russia’s initiative. “We put the spotlight on precisely these issues, and did not encounter any real objections,” he said.

“We will act consistently to continue this course. We will certainly continue to develop our trade, economic and cultural ties,” he concluded. “I hope to discuss all of these matters in detail with you today.”
