Russia-Japan dialogue to actively evolve at SPIEF 2018 and EEF 2018

Adviser to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki held a meeting in Moscow at which they exchanged views on prospects for economic cooperation between Russia and Japan, above all in the context of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s participation in the SPIEF 2018 and the EEF 2018.

Mr. Kobyakov stressed that Japan’s active participation in major international economic forums in Russia provides a substantial contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere.

The sides noted that one of the central events of the Forum will be a Russian-Japanese roundtable at which a discussion will be held on full range of Russian-Japanese trade, economic, and investment cooperation as well as measures to ensure the further development of the practical dimension of the two countries’ relations.

Mr. Kozuki noted that a representative Japanese delegation is expected to attend the Forum. Among others, it will include the Japanese Association for Trade with Russia and Newly Independent States (ROTOBO) and the Japan External Trade Development Organization (JETRO).

During the SPIEF 2018, Japan plans to set up a national exhibition pavilion at the ExpoForum CEC, where numerous meetings of officials, investors, and business leaders will take place. The Japanese pavilion will also allow visitors to learn about the national and cultural peculiarities of the country, its authentic cuisine, and tourism opportunities.

Japan intends to be actively involved in the Forum’s business and cultural programme, which is timed to coincide with the official start of Russian-Japanese bilateral years.
