Russian Convention Bureau will take part in the business program and events of SPIEF

Sustainable development is the item included in the agenda of the world states and particular corporations. It is today that it has major influence on the strategic priorities of their development. Ecology, economy and social sphere are becoming the key components. The concept of well-balanced development of these elements can not be implemented without effective cooperation between the government and business.

Russian Convention Bureau (RCB) with the support of the Roscongress Foundation invites all participants of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum to take part in the session "The meeting place can not be changed: on the way toward sustainable development through the dialogue of government and business" which is to be held in G5 hall on 5 June, the "zero" day of the Forum, from 12 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. In the course of the session it is planned to consider the most efficient patterns of interaction between the commercial and public sectors as illustrated by the event industry as one of the most dynamically developing world industries.

What steps should be taken to build up the most effective model of the sustainable development of the territory? Can the event industry become an element of such a concept? What concerted actions are to be taken to attract major international events to the regions? What social and economic effect does the event industry have on the territory development? What are the most efficient government and business interaction formats in the event industry? These and many other issues are going to be discussed by the Russian and foreign experts in the format of the "live" round-table discussion.

The speakers include:

· Elif Balci Fesinoglu, Regional Director for Europe of the International Congress and Convention Association ICCA (the Netherlands)

· Alexey Gospodarev, Head of International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Energy of Russian Federation

· Vladimir Dmitriev, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation

· Alexey Kalachev, Director of the Russian Convention Bureau

· Elena Semenova, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber

· Henrik von Arnold, Senior Consultant of ENITED Business Events; external lecturer at Vienna University MODUL

The session will be moderated by Dmitry Gornostaev, the deputy editor-in-chief of "Russia Today" International News Agency.

"Considering the results of the "Rating of event potential of the Russian regions - 2018" that we use as reference in estimating the prospects of a particular region as the venue for holding international events, it may be noted that the best results are demonstrated by the territories actively supported by local authorities,” Alexey Kalachev, the Director of the Russian Convention Bureau, comments. "Among other things, the representatives of the regional administrations and the companies of the event and tourist sectors represent their regions at the major specialized international and Russian events. One of the key tasks of our organization is to form a constructive dialogue between the industry representatives and public authorities. Entering into strategic agreements between RCB and territorial governments enables us to act as the ambassadors to promote the concepts of development of the national event industry. The event industry companies being the members of Russian Convention Bureau already point out that they are supported by RCB in establishing communication with public authorities."

Russian Convention Bureau currently has ongoing agreements with 15 regional representative offices. It is planned to expand the cooperation horizon on the site of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and to enter into agreements with a number of regional representative offices and non-government organizations, including the Governments of Irkutsk and Samara Regions and with the Union of Exhibition Developers.

During the first one and a half years of its existence the Russian Convention Bureau made a substantive progress in consolidation of the industry inside the country and in forming and strengthening the image of Russia on the international market as a competitive and prospective destination for holding international events. Being actively supported by RCB, 6 international events have been attracted to Russia which are going to take place in the four years to come, and the total economic effect of such events will exceed 5 billion rubles.

As part of the business program of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the RCB representatives are expected to take part as experts and speakers in different events of the Forum business program, including in the sessions "Basic principles of forming tourist and recreation areas" and "Culture export. Possibilities for presenting a country on the international stage".
