Russian Minister of Energy invites Saudi colleague to SPIEF 2019

Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak met with Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih in Baku on the eve of the 13th meeting of the OPEC-Non-OPEC Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed existing cooperation between their countries within the framework of the OPEC+ agreements as well as a number of important issues concerning bilateral investment and technological cooperation in the energy sector. In particular, they discussed promising joint projects in the petrochemical industry, the LNG sector, and the peaceful use of atomic energy.

Novak noted that Russia and Saudi Arabia continue to expand trade and investment cooperation. As of the end of 2018, trade turnover between the two countries had increased by 15% to more than USD 1 billion.

Novak also invited Al-Falih to take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on 6–8 June 2019.
