Russian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Forum to take place 23 May 2018 in St. Petersburg

Russian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Forum (SME Forum) will take place during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018 Starting Day. The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation together with All-Russian Non-Governmental Organization of Small and Medium Businesses OPORA ROSSII.

The plenary session titled Entrepreneurship In Russia: Anthology of Success Or Academy Of Failure? will open the business programme of the forum. The participants can expect a hard-talk style sincere conversation where raising stars of Russian business will use their own examples to illustrate most habitual victories and defeats for Russian entrepreneurs. 

All aspects of the SME development are to be covered by the Forum’s agenda: accessibility of financial resources, production efficiency, international experience and reliable digital tools to promote entrepreneurial activity, SME future in digital economy, export potential of Russian small enterprises. During business sessions the forum participants will discuss the current challenges and will outline the ways to further define the SME trajectory. 

Japan holds the title of the Guest Country at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and members of the Japanese delegation will attend the SME Forum. Roundtable titled Developing Russian–Japanese Cooperation in Small and Medium-sized Enterprise will feature the following discussion points: integration of SME entities within the supply chains of big businesses in both countries, localizations of Japanese production in Russia and participation of Russian SME in raising their added value, experience in carrying out joint Russian–Japanese projects.

Additionally, a separate session will be dedicated to youth entrepreneurial activity and its role as one of the key drivers in the economy of tomorrow. The discussion will focus on forming entrepreneurial mentality, developing mentorship and efficiency of entrepreneurial support tools.   

Organizers will pay a significant amount of attention to digital economy and a special session titled Are Russian Society, Government, And Business Ready For Digital Economy? is included in the programme. Session participants will evaluate Russia’s standing in the digital technology transformation, social and economic aspects of digitalization, as well as business and government’s ability to adapt to the new technological revolution.   

Business programme conclude with the plenary session titled Engaging in Entrepreneurship dedicated to entrepreneurship popularization measures, business activity promotion and forming a positive image of an entrepreneur with various society groups.

To maintain Forum’s accessibility for small businesses the organizers provide special participation conditions: the price of the MSE Forum participation package is 5900 roubles, inclusive of VAT. The special rate allows the businessmen to attend all the events in the business programme, make use of the networking services and take part in the meaningful discussions concerning the development of small and medium-sized businesses as the main driver of the national economy.

Alexander Kalinin, the president of the All-Russian Non-Governmental Organization of Small and Medium Businesses OPORA ROSSII emphasized the importance of business community representatives taking part in such sizeable events. “OPORA ROSSII acts as a co-organizer of the biggest forum for small and medium-sized businesses in Russia. Traditionally, it takes places under the auspices of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
