‘Russia’s Regions: New Areas of Growth’ session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in the Republic of Kalmykia
On 15 May 2018 the Republic of Kalmykia capital Elista will host a visiting session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum titled ‘Russia’s Regions: New Areas of Growth. Investments in the Real Sector’, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation jointly with the Russian Export Center and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. The session will continue a cycle of events that aim to expand opportunities, develop the export potential of the regions, and promote specific territories.
The main themes of the business session will be the development of high-tech industries, the creation of new jobs, and the development of infrastructure to enhance the region’s competitiveness. The goal of the discussion is to raise awareness among regional business about mechanisms for co-financing investment projects through existing state programmes. Institutions and mechanisms have been created in Russia today to support the development of industry – from raising funds, searching for, and implementing technological solutions to helping find sales markets in the country and abroad.
The visiting session will pay special attention to raising awareness about state support measures for business. The plenary session participants will discuss the following questions: what can be done to help enterprises in the Russian regions understand global trends and integrate into the production chains of international leaders, what opportunities is the government offering today to stimulate the creation of new enterprises, and what needs to be done to attract investment to the real sector.
