SPIEF Organizing Committee meets to discuss preparations for 2018

A meeting of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) Organizing Committee was held on November 15, 2017.

The results of the Forum held in June this year were presented at the meeting. The event attracted a record number of participants – more than 14,000 representatives of the business community, heads of international organizations, officials, experts, academics, and journalists from 143 countries attended. More than 475 investment agreements, memorandums, and letters of intent, worth a total of RUB 1,817.9 billion, were signed at SPIEF 2017 (for comparative purposes, in 2016, 356 agreements were signed, for a total of RUB 1,000.46 billion).

The Organizing Committee discussed conditions for participation, the content of the business programme, and preparation of the venue and of the city itself for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will take place in St. Petersburg on May 24–26, 2018.

Particular attention was paid to efforts to promote the Forum, including SPIEF outreach sessions to be held in Russia and abroad. Additionally, the work plan for the SPIEF 2018 Organizing Committee was confirmed.

One of the biggest international economic forums in the world, SPIEF is held under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation. It is a vital event in the business world, with participants including heads of state and government, executives from international companies and organizations, and leading experts and journalists from around the world.
