Tatarstan to present at SPIEF the design for a proposed international exhibition complex

Tatarstan is to present the design project for the Kazan Expo international exhibition complex at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2016, head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina told TASS.

“The President of Tatarstan has identified the projects that we will showcase at the Forum, including construction of the Kazan Expo exhibition complex, an ethylene plant and a new theme park we are planning to build near the town of Innopolis,” Taliya Minullina said.

Planned to go up near Kazan International Airport, the Kazan Expo exhibition complex will be the main venue for the 2019 WorldSkills International, a championship of trade occupations. The ethylene plant is projected for Nizhnekamsk and will be used to supply feedstock to Tatarstan’s petrochemical companies. The theme park next to the Innopolis High-Tech City is expected to have virtual attractions like those at the Futuroscope park in the French town of Poitiers. “Those projects have been selected on the basis of their importance to our Republic in accordance with various sectors of the Strategy-2030; these are very large-scale projects in terms of both scope and investment,” Taliya Minullina said.

The 20th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will take place on June 16–18 at a new venue in Shushary near St. Petersburg. The Forum is organized by the state-owned Roscongress Foundation established last year. Key discussion topics at the Forum include the new economic reality and the search for new growth drivers.
