Territory of Innovation Lounge Area Opens at SPIEF 2018

Territory of Innovation Lounge Area, a place for meetings and discussions for IT entrepreneurs, business, state and investment community representatives, opens at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Territory of Innovation at SPIEF 2018 will open on the first day of the Forum, 24 May 2018. Partners of the lounge area are Rhana medical corporation, Skolkovo Development Institute and the ecosystem Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF). The Inc. magazine is the media Partner of Territory of Innovation. More than twenty IT entrepreneurs, whose start-ups are already altering the digital ecosystem of the country, will also be present at the tech area.

Territory of Innovation is a sound extension of SPIEF general agenda. The Forum that traditionally raises the most significant and relevant issues continues its technological transformation. The event participants increasingly often bring up the need for and the potential of innovations in all areas of life and economy, dive into the details and specific industrial issues and challenges. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in his Address to the Federal Assembly of February 2018 outlined one of the challenges facing the country in the coming years: to level out technological backwardness,” noted Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov.

During the Forum, Territory of Innovations speakers will give talks, while representatives of industry, business and government will discuss the prospects for practical use of technologies. The Lounge Area will host sessions on innovations in industry, medicine and agriculture. Participants and guests of the Territory of Innovation will consider special nature and issues of start-ups’ interaction with corporations and, of course, quantum technologies and the prospects for their application will get their share of attention.

“IT start-ups and the digital technologies they create are already changing the business environment and entire layers of business in Russia and beyond. Along with this, innovations do not exist in a vacuum; an effective corporate demand and remedy for cooperation barriers are needed for them to reach their full potential.

IIDF exists for five years, and all these years we have been developing an ecosystem of digital entrepreneurship, where both start-ups and established business are an integral part of it. We hope that the Territory of Innovation at SPIEF will facilitate a productive dialogue between entrepreneurs and their potential clients,” noted the Head of the IIDF Kirill Varlamov. He stressed that about 15 of the best start-ups from IIDF portfolio will attend the Forum. They are ready to fit their tech solutions for both, Russian corporations and abroad.

Igor Drozdov, President of the Skolkovo Foundation Management Board said: “The modern world is rapidly changing. Technology companies developing advanced solutions for life set high velocity of these changes. However, the companies themselves, in order not to be outclassed by the competition, need the expertise in technical development trends, in quality assurance and in prospects for their potential. Expert support of our residents is one of the key objectives of the Skolkovo Foundation.

The Skolkovo Foundation will host a session called What Will The World Be Like in Twenty Years? at the Territory of Innovation. Study of the country’s vision of the future and its findings will become the session’s discussion points.
