THE DEVELOPMENT AWARD CEREMONY

On June 17, the official results of Development Award 2016, a competition for the best investment project of the year, were officially announced. Development Award is an annual award designed to encourage investment and create a favorable investment climate in Russia. The awards ceremony was held as part of the jubilee St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Eight Russian companies received awards in respective categories.

Thirty companies were put through into the final, and a total of 303 applications had been submitted by Development Award candidates from 62 Russian regions.

“Russian business has enormous development potential,” said Sergey Gorkov, Chairman of the Board of Vnesheconombank. “This year we have seen a high share of companies with innovative projects, especially in the SME segment. This is definitely a positive trend that attests to excellent prospects of the future economic development of the country, as well as motivation and ideas that businesses aspire to implement. Our mission is to facilitate the development of the best and most significant projects and share their successful experience.”

Awards were presented to companies in eight categories:

  • Best Infrastructure Project – Lipetsk Special Economic Industrial and Production Zone (Lipetsk Region);
  • Best Industrial Project – GEROPHARM (St. Petersburg);
  • Best Project in the Integrated Development of a Territory – Belokurikha Resort (Altai Region);
  • Best Project by a Small or Medium-Sized Enterprise – Cytomed Medical and Biological Research and Production Company (St. Petersburg);
  • Best Innovative or High-Tech Project – Generium Biotechnology Research Center (Vladimir Region);
  • Best Environmental or Green Technology Project – Integrated Disposal Systems (Orenburg Region);
  • Best Export Project – Monocrystal (Stavropol Region);
  • Best Project with Foreign Investments – DonBioTech (Rostov Region).
