India Hosts A Field Session of the Roscongress Friends of Cities International Project

On 12–15 March in India's capital, the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in New Delhi hosted the 2nd Vision for the Future International Youth Forum, organized by the Indian BRICS International Forum.

The event included a Friends of Cities field session with the international community, meant to facilitate the sustainable urban development knowledge exchange in the interest of further cooperation. Friends of Cities was officially launched as part of the Russian Investment Forum 2019.

Young experts, leaders of public organizations, and entrepreneurs from 20 countries belonging to the Global Leadership and Entrepreneurship Network attended the event. The meeting was moderated by Assistant to the Roscongress Foundation Youth Policy Director Roman Chukov and key international participants included BRICS International Forum International Director Rishabh Sethi (India), Yayasan Aspirasi Rakyat Amalan Malaysia (ARAM) Foundation Director Nehsan Selvaraj (Malaysia), and the Mongolian Employers' Federation (MONEF) Foreign Relations and Cooperation Department Director Baljinnyam Chinzorigt (Mongolia).

The event included discussions on international experiences and tangible projects for achieving sustainable urban development; brainstorming on important skills for the youth of the cities of the future, which was started in Sochi at the Russian Investment Forum 2019, was continued. The community's work will carry on at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on 6–8 June 2019.

"The Friends of Cities community is one of the first international expert communities that the Roscongress Foundation plans to launch in 2019. It includes members from the international pool of young leaders and entrepreneurs that take part in our largest international events. Interest in the community, and the fact that a dedicated event was held by our Indian partners, illustrate that quest for and scaling of best practices in sustainable urban development has incredible potential. We plan to expand this and other expert communities further, in order to help develop leadership and solve problems on the global agenda,” said Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev.
