Yekaterinburg Will Present Smart City at SPIEF 2018

EXPO 2025 Bid Committee will present the Smart City concept on the interactive stand at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. This advanced technological stand will be constructed right at the expo venue.

“The monorail road project is one of the most brilliant at the EXPO in Yekaterinburg. At the stand, Forum visitors will be able to take a virtual tour of the EXPO and the Smart City,” notes Svetlana Sagaydak, General Director of the EXPO 2025 Bid Committee.

During the monorail tour, one can 'get out of the car' to 'walk' along the bioclimatic model of the Verkh-Isetskiy Pond embankment, as well as through EXPO pavilions, which will transform into educational, research and manufacturing centres, and to find out more about innovative technologies that will be used to build the Smart City.

Photorealistic 3D graphics with real-time elements will be used to model the EXPO 2025 territory, which requires streamed layering of mega data.

To recap, the EXPO 2025 in Yekaterinburg will cover 555 hectares, which makes this exhibition the largest in the history of the World Expos. Osaka (Japan) and Baku (Azerbaijan) are the only runner-ups to the Ural capital. Early in April Russian President Vladimir Putin met with representatives of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Visiting Committee, who arrived to Russia on a three-day visit to evaluate status of Yekaterinburg as a host of the World Expo 2025. BIE representatives concluded that Yekaterinburg has everything it needs to host the main global exhibition. The final decision on the EXPO 2025 venue will be made at the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions in November 2018.

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov noted that the capital of the Urals has a good chance in the race for the right to host the World Expo 2025.

“Yekaterinburg is experienced in hosting international events. For example, the SCO summit and the first ever BRICS summit took place here in 2009, the International Industrial Trade Fair INNOPROM in 2010, Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) will take place here in 2019. With so much expertise Yekaterinburg has a fighting chance,” emphasized Anton Kobyakov.

In addition, the General Director of EXPO 2025 Bid Committee will participate in the City of the Future panel session devoted to the urban development. For more details on the Business Programme of the Forum go to https://www.forumspb.com/programme
